I knew that Fukuoka is not the busiest basho of the year, but the vision of these empty seats prior to the beggining of he juryo bouts is just so depressing...

It's a week day, wanna bet what it is like on sunday? ;)

Moreover it was rather early in the afternoon. Not so much empty seats the last 2 hours even on a weekday.
Jûryô : 15h-16h
Makuuchi : 16h-18h
(heure japonaise)
Thank you Fay for sharing it with us. :)

Wow, Orora looks really like a freak-show on this photo... Wouldn't have to meet the guy at the back end of a gloomy street on a Friday night, brrr...

Btw, how does Takanoyama look in his bouts ? I surely hope he can make it up to the paid ranks, if only for one basho...

Thanks a lot for giving us pictures of so many lower divisions rikishi. We have now a clear idea of who they are and it is precious.
Fayme, there are no scholars coming in the afternoon ? I remember that it occured during Natsu basho. Not here at Fukuoka ?
And, as usual : a ton of thanks for your picks (we want a book ! :P)
Pics of day 08 now releasedWow, a yobidashi's special !
Thank you again.

Went this morning to Sakaigawa Beya. Toyohibiki was there for a short time in the beginning but only showed up and went outside to train some tsuppari. Iwakiyama only made some tachiai, Goeido had some bouts with Hochiyama.
After training Toyohibiki came and said very cool "hey" to me ;-). His operation was successful, he said and he is feeling better. Shironoryu invited me for chanko, but I had promised to be in time for a special bout in the Kokusai centre.
So here are the pics from Sakaigawa Beya and the rest of the day:

Nice as always... was wondering, is the big yobidashi a former sumotori ? he looks like one, at least...

If you hear someone coughing in the stream, it's me. Anyway, I try not to shake too much with the camera.
Went to Kokonoe beya in the morning but only to leave something in the heya for Chiyoarashi - who got his KK today and laughed . Didn't want to contaminate the whole heya. So only some pics of the surrounding.
And I try to photograph Masatsukasa to KK - fingers crossed

No KK for Masatsukasa and I will better go to bed and hope to sleep without coughing all the time.
So here are some more rikishi pics:

And the two Tequila sunrise after the party didn't do any good to my cold ...
  You should rest and take something warm, like a coffee or hot chocolate or tea (excellent against cold). Or you can smell steam (or vapor ? sorry for my poor english), it is very efficient and kill all those microbs.
Thank you for all your pictures taken in spite of your cold. The result is amazing (an I gave your adress to the Czech embassy in France to enable them to see pictures of Takanoyama).
